Apparently July was “Pick on Fox News Month” over at the Media Orchard blog. And who better to pick on Fox news than Scott Baradell and his crew, right?

Scott’s point about Fox’s blatant attempt to disguise its political agenda in a cloak of objectivity. The ruse doesn’t work and everyone knows it. Especially the folks at Fox News.

Scott’s comments on integrity and objectivity are noteworthy – but too many of the comments on his blog post missed the real point made in the final paragraph of his post:

“… when I knock Fox News, it’s not because I worry about its politics. No, I worry that the ratings success of Fox News will undermine the profession of journalism generally in the public’s mind, so that any reporter who endeavors to cover stories objectively will be greeted with a Roger Ailes-inspired smirk.”

There are real-life implications for those of us in the public relations and marketing fields who try to get objective, credible, third-party reporting for our clients and/or issues we serve.
